"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
- 1 John 3:17-18
WHO WE ARE?
The Gospel Centre Food Bank began in 2011 and was a part of Haringey Food Bank until 2019. It now runs independently within the auspices of the church; with volunteers from the church as well as from the local community. During COVID-19 we expanded to meet a five fold increase in demand. Our serving area is in the church hall. We believe that this is a better experience for our guests and is closer to our storage and bagging areas. The Food Bank is indebted to many local partners including Wightman Road Mosque, the local Catholic Workers Group, and the Felix Project, as well as local residents. We play an active part in the Haringey Food Network and we are a member of the Independent Food Aid Network.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The Food Bank provides a standard bag of non-perishable food to people in need living in the London borough of Haringey, who present themselves to us when our sessions run. Alternatively, people can also be referred to us by third-parties. On agreement with us they can collect on behalf of a neighbour. In addition, we provide toiletries, baby provisions, occasional cleaning products and fresh vegetables fruit and bread donated by our partners. We provide standard amounts for up to 2 adults and for 3 plus adults. Whilst we do not ask for proof of address or family profile, we may request it. We are now providing some help to our guests with their welfare needs, especially where immediate help can be provided. In this we are being given help from the likes of Vibrance, Public Voice, Bridge Renewal, Haringey Citizens Advice as well as Reach and Connect.
Opening time for those seeking emergency food is Saturday 10:30am-12 noon in person. There is is no formal referral process, though if you want us to look out for people who are new to us, or have a question, you can use the 'Get in touch' section at the bottom of this page.

HOW WE RECEIVE HELP?
The Food Bank has been blessed by numerous monetary and food donations including receiving grants from Tesco Bags of Food, Hornsey Parochial Charities and Haringey Council. Also, from private individuals. You can now donate to us financially by either contacting us by email which we will reply by giving you our bank details. Alternatively, you can donate to us via our Neighbourly site, whose payments are secured by Stripe. Either way you can donate on a one off basis or on a monthly basis and if you are a UK taxpayer you can Gift Aid your payment.
We welcome donations of non perishable food such as standard packets of rice, pasta, tinned fish and meat, long life milk, cereals, biscuits, coffee and tea; as well as toiletries. You can also purchase our requested items on our half and have them delivered to us from our The Gospel Centre Foodbank - Give Today page.
The main times that we are open for donations are usually:
Tuesday: 10am-1pm
Wednesday: 10am-1pm
Thursday: 10am-1pm & 6-7.30pm
Friday: 10am-1pm
Saturday: 9.15-10.15am
Please come to our back door, down the driveway and press the top buzzer during the weekday and bottom buzzer at other times.
The Gospel Centre's Food Bank is able to operate because of the church, it's volunteers and particularly people form the wider local community. We continue to welcome genuine expressions of interest from people who would like to volunteer with us. Most volunteers take on a variety of roles including preparation for our sessions, serving our visitors, booking people in for our sessions, guiding people into our hall to collect food as well as providing information and signposting. We also have other jobs that need doing such as administration, promotion and communication as well as ordering and shopping. Please enquire using the contact form or by email at [email protected].
