We have close links with extensive mission
work in Africa, and in particular we support the work of Africa for
Christ.
AFC workers in Malawi and Mozambique have
found thousands of children completely orphaned by the AIDS epidemic
- the adults in even their extended family have died. Whenever they
find such children they seek to place them in the care of a local church
family, and a small allowance is paid to the family to help with food
and clothing. The scheme is approved and locally supervised. AFC currently
supports over 600 children in such circumstances.
We help support this work, as well as Christian
workers in Ireland and with CLC
(Christian Literature Crusade)
We are also raising money this autumn for
a local project in Guateng, South Africa. The Refilwe project is providing
hostel and educational facilities for children, and hospice and medical
care for the local community. We raised almost £800 for Rewfilwe
at our Harvest service at the beginning of October.
